Got new Sub!

I just bought a JL 10W3 sub & an Alpine MRPM500 V-Power amp for my trunk...on the recommendation from my stereo guy.

In a box with install for under $800 CDN.

Am i gonna be happy?

I have the same sub with a JL Audio 500/1 monoblock sub amp and it kicks a$$. One word of caution. When it is cranking it will shut off your auxiliary features for lack of voltage. A stiffening coil helped but didn't stop it completely. Probably needs a second battery. Your installer may have an answer. Mine (me) doesn't.

BTW I have alpine amps in my Vette and I don't think they kick as hard. I may be wrong but it's just my opinion.

Oh yeah, Alpine amps which I have used/installed a few, NEVER hit as hard. They are a GOOD amp, but they have limited dynamic head room, aka don't expect them to deliver ANYTHING over their rated output.

I went with the Alpine amp because he told me it would pump the power to the sub cleaner than others & i wouldn't have to worry about the low voltage warning.

I hope he's right.

I was told you need to take the voltage after the batt, there is a sendor circuit that detects the bat,Im not sure if you can find a spot where you can pull 60amps but my mechanic told me to not take it from the battery directly and you wont throw the mess.

Beware that if you pull it from somewhere that cant support your currant you will melt wires and cause damage.

I looked at my sub today and it is a 10w7 so I don't think the 10w3 will cause as much drain.

As I said, Alpine is OK but can't touch the JLA. As far as being clean, it's a tie at best. My system is a high end alpine and the low end bass is just OK imo. It also has to do with the trunk being absent in my roadster.

Somewhere in the archives you can see pictures of how I connected my system.

Regardless I'm sure it will sound great and a huge improvement.

Thanx for the tip about connection of the hot wire. I'll swap it this weekend.
