Gas lock question

Hi,guys,I just bought a 05 E55 from my friend. I am confused about the gas lock still can be opened after i lock the car.what is that problem?

JK. So the gas door doesn't disengage when the doors are unlocked? Is that the deal?

Lock the car with the gas door open. See if the pin releases into the little lock hole.
It may be misaligned, or gummed up.
