I think you just need to ask your self "what do I want my car to be" If you want to fit in with a proven package them 180, If you want more than everyone else and am willing to be daring then 190. Some issues you may face with the 190 is increased IAT temps but too what exstent? If you do road racing(or long freeway pulls) this might be an issue if its drag racing then it's more managable. Might want to consider rear mount cooling tank with either. If it was me I'd go 190 and make it work.

ill be going to a few drag events a year, and i also do some freeway pulls when there are meets that call for it.

i want to make the most usable power that i can to take advantage of the custom tune.
i just dont want to make the mistake of going 190 and finding out that it runs too hot for our cars.

im hoping the cooling upgrades are good enough, and i could add the rear reservoir if necessary. but what else can be done if that doesnt solve the problem?

someone's going to have to come up with a viable slr style cooling system with these pulleys cause larger reserviors and h/e's aren't going to cut it! our oem i/c's are maxed out already.

I think its gutted out.... you then would need to relocate the IAT sensor - if I remember on a stock E55 its just after the intercooler, but I could be wrong.

BTW did not know kleemann did an slr style intercooler .. any pics?

ya hopefully that does happen one day!

mikey, you're very knowledgeable with modding these 55s and dragging them.

honestly, you need to know what kind of boost each one will produce on YOUR car with YOUR mods and the only way to do that is monitor boost levels. with your mods you "should" be able to run the 180 and maintain a safe boost level. the 180 has been tested and proven to work with intake/exhaust and proper cooling mods (although i didn't see any measurable difference between it and asp's old 178). at the moment, i know of NOBODY that has run or even tested the 190 so there's no way i could recommend it. i may throw one on and test it myself if vadim doesn't step up with some actual data.

i guess its really a matter of taking the gamble or playing it safe if no data comes out soon. u think u will be testing one out anytime soon?

im going to see if i can try to monitor my current boost levels with the kleeman pulley im using now. time is running short though.

thanks for your input

actually, i don't think even my cooling system can handle a 190mm pulley...and my system is more extensive than anything this side of slr style coolers. however, i may still do some testing over the next couple of months...

Introducing FEDOR DEZYN's 55K top mount SLR type coolers!

Vadim made these for me a few months ago. He also made the 190mm pulley to help bring the boost back up since these coolers will drop boost. We will start testing them on my 5.7L in the coming weeks.

These bad boys have double cooling surface area and flows double amount of air compared to our stock 55K intercooler.

This picture is the completed but unfinished version.
