Keyless Go key quit working, can I replace/combine with eBay parts?
Last week, my Keyless Go key quit working. I put new batteries in it, and it blinked the LED once, but it wouldn't do it anymore after that. The emergency key unlocks the car, and I can put the key in the ignition and the car will start, but I needed a new key. I figured it'd be warrantied.
Well, apparently to test a key, you need two keys. So I had to buy a new key (a new chrome one, neato!). They did the test and said my old key had water damage and was not covered under warranty.
The key blinked once, when I replaced the batteries. It still starts the car if I plug it in to the slot. I know that all the eBay Mercedes keys are useless because they don't come with the actual key internals, but I have the key internals in this old key.
My question: Is there any way to repair this, whether repairing the old key itself or swapping parts of it into/from one of the eBay Mercedes keys?
