Starting to Split the Cooling system - PICS

Last night I finally installed a BMW PS reservoir in the engine bay. I bought it of bimmerforums for 15 shipped. there was a filter inside the reservoir that i had to demolish via a screw driver. Today I am going to run the hoses the split the system.

This is the stock bracket that came with the reservoir and it fits perfectly

Since the reservoir is only used as a fill point i blocked the return line into the reservoir with a rubber plug.

Here is a pic of the reservoir mounted. it touches the heat insulation material on the hood.

more pics to come

Thanks for the pictures!

A couple questions...maybe they are dumb.

1. What year/model BMW has this reservoir and bracket?
2. What do you plumb this to and why does this help lower the IATs?

There is a thread in the DIY section for the plumbing info and benefits.

basically i can going to cap the stock T, and attach a 5/8 to 3/4 splice to the i/c plumbing and run it to the reservoir.

LOL, Just wait till you get there, Yes your right about what to do but its the prossess of getting the band clamp off that I was like WTF. I'm sure you have better tools than what I have but still it was a crazy pain in the ***. I ended up cutting the hose with the clamp still on and plugging the hose, Not what i had planned on but it still worked all the same. Good Luck either way and keep us posted.

I am not going to mess with the band clamps. There is one regular clamp on the bottom of the stock T, which can be taken off with a wise grip. After that clamp is off I will cap the stock T, so engine cooling is isolated.
The ic cooling circuit will get the 3/4 to 5/8 spice with a hose which will go to the reservoir.
Hopefully it will go as planned.
