You just can't believe what they say

Well, I am wrong. After getting some "GOOD INFORMATION" from a highly placed friend at MBUSA, I left a message on this forum that included what he told me about no cars having been delivered in the U.S. HE LIED. I was in Dallas today coming back from a business lunch in my collegues car, and sure enough right there in the Park Cities was a w211 black E55 going the other way. If I was driving I probably would have pulled a U-turn and followed and asked him numerous questions. It sure was pretty with its split spoke wheels. Those are what made me give it another look. After seeing the black, I am now thinking black or grey. Yes they are here! awiner you a correct again.

I am sure it was part of the secret VIP program that MBUSA does not like to talk about.

They did the same with the SL55 AMG the sticker on the window says VIP and arrived at the dealer a month or so before the offical MBUSA release.

NO CAR CAN GO ON SALE UNTIL IT IS EPA CERTIFIED!

I read somewhere in the past that all new models to the US must first be certified by DOT and EPA. The EPA testing requires a test of actually driving the car around very extensively in order to get the EPA gas mileage rating. EPA also measures ever aspect of the car both internally and externally. I have seen cars with manufactures measurements that differ from what EPA lists - like 15 cu ft of trunk space and EPA say it is 14, etc. The gas mileage is rated by EPA and not the car company.

So there are probably numerous E55 being driven on the US roads to meet EPA certification and I doubt these sightings of cars are private owners.
