2006 SL55 with 030 Performance Package
If you think about it, the question is silly!
If you want a roadster you have to buy the SL55
If you want a 4 door sport sedan then its the E55
Both cars are built for different reasons
Performance is going to be about the same.
The non AMG SL class is a flagship car for MB and its base price is higher than the 2004 E55 AMG
.
It is not fair to compare what is better, the SL55 is at least $38,000 more, that allows such features as ABC as standard.

2003 SL55 AMG (should be on truck to Cleveland)
2000 ML430
2000 E55 AMG (Sold)

I hope no one actually decides which one of these two cars to buy based on "which is faster". Let's say Mercedes rates the E55 zero to sixty MPH at 4.6 seconds and the SL55 is rated at 4.5. To make a buying decision based on the 0.1 second difference is not really important. Just buy the one you want!

Thanks a lot for all reply, I don’t care if the car will be 2 or 4 door , I’m looking for the better, like the handling, the sound inside the car, then the performance, that’s really what I’m looking for.

I like how the SL55 looks over the E55. But in my case I like driving my homies in my car, so I would pick the E55.
It's seems if I was in your position(i'm very jealous), I would opt for the SL55.

255 width up front and 295 in the rear on 19's is very easy on the SL55.

Thanx again, really I was wondering to have some thing different like the new SL55, I was dreaming on since I saw it in the dealer work shop, it was MKB-SL55 really it’s a nice car.
Did you see the MKB body kit, what you think about it? Worth the money or leave it with the stock style?

keep it stock AMG styling... the MKB kit seems too subdued with vertical/horizontal lines... where as the AMG looks more aggressive with curvy lines befitting the SL body style.

I have driven both cars SL55 and E55 (211). I am not sure that the handling of the SL55 is better. Actually the SL55 has to drag around roughly 300 pounds more. Differences in accel. are really philosophical as they are within the range of the tolerances.
Sound is the same apart from the fact that you can open the SL55 and therefore the sound-dosis is more direct
