FSS Reset Question

I did my first oil change this evening in my garage...piece of cake. My car showed a service C due in 2,900 miles. I've read through all the FSS reset threads on the site and I can't seem to get my service interval reset. I've tried the reset several times now and the car is now saying that service B due for over 78,000 miles. The car was serviced pretty religously before I owned it. It would seem I cancelled out work that had been performed in the FSS since the service B overdue by 78K is showing. When I select "confirm" and accept when the cursor is highlighting "standard oil", I get the message "service not confirmed." Anyone else had this happen? Any pointer are appreciated. I'd much rather tune a carb than have to f*** with the FSS! Thanks in advance!
