The first picture with the red Aston is most definitely photoshopped (and not particularly well), but I don't think it was meant to be taken literally... just for "artistic effect" if I had to guess, since the same Aston's apparently on the list.
I too don't get how some of these models would've been "clunkered" by their respective owners - a cursory search of the used market would've demonstrated a far better result could be had by selling the vehicle outright. Doesn't make sense, unless they were absolute buckets o' rust...

Great case in point - my neighbor's 1970 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 convertible, bought from an old man who wanted $5k for it. I saw one go at Mecum for $75k last year.
