Advise Dealing With MB Dealer's SA...

My '07 E63 is still under factory warranty. I've owner the car for 3 weeks, bought it CPO from a local MB dealer. My engine is making the common E63 lifter tick. I followed the advice from folks here to change the oil and put on a few hundred miles to see if lifters quiet down...they haven't.

Tomorrow I have an appt at the service dept where I bought the car. Has anyone dealt with their dealers on this issue? Did they replace the lifters without a fight or will they tell me it's normal (my expected response). A $100K car should not sound like a '68 Nova in need of a valve job. MB needs to do whatever is necessary to completely eliminate the sound.

Any advice would be appreciated.

+1 I know they will tell you their mechanic is AMG certified, but seriously think about what Jangy said!

too much work for what they consider to be "normal sounds" from the engine.

+1. Don't let the dealer monkey around in that motor. imho, let it go for now and see how it progresses.

Put in some MMO (marvel mystery oil). Seriously, just try to forget it, if something really happens you will prolly know.

Is the car performing adequately? Sometimes higher performance motors make more noise - it's like higher performance brakes squeaking at lower temps.

If the performance is there - leave it alone. You DON'T want the local dude creating more problems than you are asking to be solved.

I had the oil changed recently. hoping that would quiet the lifter(s). Are you serious about the Marvel Mystery Oil? I've heard good things about it, but in a e63?
