Drag strip results with 20 in wheels
I love them and they look awesome. Now the bad part. They ruined my track times. I couldnt believe what a negative affect they had.
To give you quick background. I have a bone stock strong running e55.
I go to the track often. With my stock 18s and the stock conti tires I repeatedly run 12.25 avg runs at just under 116mph. Ive run that time 4 out of 5 runs. every single time ive been to the track
So Now I went to the strip last week with my 20s and figured there was gonna be difference but how much can a wheel really affect a car with 516lbs of torque. Well it affects it alot.
My best run was a 12.55 at 112mph. I had to really squeeze everything i had out of the car for that run. My avg was a 12.65 at 111mph.
That is terrible. I will never ever go to the track with my 20s again. Im so pissed off about it so Im ordering a set of drag radials for my 18s and going back in a couple of weeks and not leaving until i break into the 11s on a stock motor. I may even sell my 20s after what happened.
I should of know better but I was thinking since I had such a big traction issue with my stock wheels and tires. Maybe the wider tires i put on the 20s would help and even out to where i could hit at least the same times with the 20s. I was wrong for sure. I guess even the mighty 55 cant overcome increased rotational mass
Anyone else have similar results
