Engine wont start now

hi guys/gals
hope someone can help me.

Started the car this morning fine as i was reversing out of the driveway the car started misfiring and orange engine light came on, It only misfired at idle it was like it wanted to stall.
So i drove it approx 5 miles to my mates who has a code reader, As i was driving there i noticed above average white smoke from the tail pipes and a strong smell of fuel when i parked up.
The codes were: p2043, p204b, p2050, p2058, p2045, p2052, p2055, p2057, p2048 and my mate said cylinder 5,6,7,8 had the misfire and he mentioned "damages twc" came up with most of the codes.

When i tried starting it up to show him what it sounds like it did not start, the first time the engine truned over but did not start it had a strong smell of fuel and smoke came up from under the brake fluid thingy it smelled like a starter motor burning.
Then the second time i turned it over it sounded like i had a bad starter motor and brake defective, esp defective lights came up on the display.
Any ideas?

I would not drive it / try start it until you get a good understanding of what the problem is from the codes.

PM me I have a good MB tech in Kent who can sort you out. Where are u based?

twc refers to your catalytic converter...three way cat. converter.

the "damages twc" means your cats could fail if you dont address your problems.

When i try to start the car now it just goes "tick" like when you have a bad starter, Just gonna have to wait till monday to get a tech to have a look at it.

Odd that the motor is locked up. If the battery is good, it is possible you have a injector which is stuck open and has hydro locked a cylinder. If you have the time, I would pull a plug for each cylinder, unplug the harness for the coils, and try cranking it again.

+1, if there is a strong fuel smell, it could be the injector dumping too much fuel into a cylinder. Careful not to hydrolock the engine.

Make sure to use the correct spark plug wire puller or you will you will damage the wire when pulling it off. GL with it.

The cylinder fills up with liquid and locks up because you cannot compress a liquid.

It is a 2003 with 66000miles last serviced at 64000.

thanks low profile
If it is hydrolocked then how do you fix that is it just a matter of draining the fuel from the engine?
When the plugs are out what should i look for?
I am sure it has something to do with fuel?injecter as shardul said aswell.

Assuming this is your issue: You can have an injector get stuck in the open position. You will know when you remove the plug for that cylinder as it will most likely be very wet . As well, when you crank the engine with the plugs out you will notice how wet it is by the cylinder which locked up. Replace the injector to that cylinder. Replace the spark plugs, reset any stored codes, and as soon as you are up and running, do an oil change.

This morning i removed the plugs and got my mate to crank the engine.
No.8 cylinder shot out alot of fuel so i cleaned the plugs and put them back in and cranked the engine and it started.
I turned it off after about 2mins as it was still misfiring. Tried to start it again and engine was locked up again.
So i think i will just drop it off at the techs for him to inspect the injectors or is that a thing i can do myself.

Glad to hear you locate the problem. It really is not that hard to fix. You have a bad injector at #8. You will need to bleed off the pressure in the fuel rail before attempting to replace it.
Do not try to run the motor again until you replace that injector. Pull the plugs again, <insert from above> "Replace the injector to that cylinder. Replace the spark plugs, reset any stored codes, and as soon as you are up and running, do an oil change."

GL. If you are not comfortable working on your engine, bring it to a qualified mechanic. Make sure you do an oil change.

Update
Cylinder 8 injecter was faulty had to wait 5 days for it to arrive from germany. main dealer price £80.00.
Changed the engine oil and filter and a o2 sensor as it got faulty with all that fuel passing through the exhaust.

Got the car back two days ago not had a chance to post.
Only concern is when i start the engine now it takes longer to start where as before it used to start straight away, It takes about 2seconds of crank to start the engine now.
Thanks for all the help guys.

Whatever we're tuning!
There is a possibility that your coil isn't firing full force. It could be weak and on its way out. Usually when they fail the just FAIL!
