*****Famoso Raceway - Private Track Rental - 11/21/2009 Feedback and Pics!!*****
It was great hanging out with you fellow Mbworld'ers. Great turn out along with some really cool cars.
As for my car, well, today wasn't my day. I couldn't manage to lay down any power out of the blocks and only cut 1, yes 1 60' below 2.00. I changed my tire pressure a total of 4 times throughout the day. Nothing seemed to work.
My best run of the day was my second of twelve runs
12.14 @ 117
I didn't come close to it the rest of the day!
Juiceee,
I have some cool pix and vids from today. That run with the GT did come out quit well. I'll have to post em up when I get a minute..
Rick,
Bad *** ride and Thanks for the lunch. Those chicken sandwiches were extremely necessary.

I want to THANK EVERYONE who participated in this event, as it was most definitely worth the effort and wait. Thanks for driving all the way to Famoso with your awesome machines and joining us in this wonderful event

Due to the rain early in the morning, the track was not optimal for traction, but temps were great reaching a high of 58 F and DA throughout the day was under 480 ft. From 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., DA dropped to under 200 ft
. As usual, some cars did good and some did bad. I'll try to summarize....
- As posted earlier, Sal ran a few 11.0x @ 126, then a couple of 10.9x @ 127 to 128 mph
Sal, your car was absolutely phenomenal my friend
- Chris's Challenger couldn't break 10.30s due to to belt kept popping out
but he his runs were spectacular as always- We had two Mustangs that were running in the 9s throughout the day

- Ryan's C6 Z06 (headers/Cams/Tune) ran 10.4x @ 135.x mph

- Bolt-ons C6 Corvette ran 11.6x @ 12x mph..... Joel, it was a pleasure meeting you
- Steve's Jeep ran consistently in the mid 11s (naturally aspirated) and shocked a few cars

- Tony's S4 was very impressive going from 13.4 to 11.9x by just improving the launch and technique
- The Bently ran 12.8x @ 118 and I think it may have hit 12.7x as well
- The Porsche Carrera GT was finally able to dip into the 11.9s after a few 18 second runs

- There was a turbo truck that ran 10.90s @ 130 mph

- My car was not able to better the 12.4x @ 114.7 today no matter how many times we tried launching it

- The two CLSs were absolutely amazing down the track.....
- The 135 and 335 machines were absolutely amazing..... and have humbled a few AMGs at Famoso

- The bolts-on M3, specifically Drew's, was truly poetic at the track, he was able to drop down 12.0 and had traction been a little better, I have no doubt, his car would've hit 11s

- The three C63s were epic at the track: Mac, Phil, and Josh. All three kept improving and improving throughout the day with fantastic times although it was the first time to the drag strip with the C63 for all three of them
- Last but not least, I want to thank Pyrun for all his efforts documenting this drag day and driving all the way out to Famoso to hang with us

Josh did you find the BANNANA
Great time as always Last edited by rarfinancial; Nov 22, 2009 at 11:56 AM.
We put in a new tranny and new clutch in the car and headed down there. We tested the car a few times but it would not hook
The car ran a best of 10.9s @144mph on mid boost when we were testing it. When I punched in second gear the car got sideways all the way through but I stayned on the throtle. We busted the driver side radiator and headed back, no worries this happens at drag racing
Thanks for having us, we had an amazing time and congrats to all participants.
I managed a best of 11.9@122 in street trim, 11.7@121 in race trim. BMW 135i w/ tune, downpipes, meth/water injection, and tires.
Great job Terry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Terry your car was running great man! So was warrens and the 135i that was running faster than you.
Warrens car is a beast, 11.9 @ 119mph, with drag, meth and Jb3 only!!! Otherwise stock car, thats insane.

I had a lot of 12.0x runs, but finally managed the 11.9 run. My best trap was 118.84. If I could get a 1.70 60's than I would have had a 11.7 run. Lighter front wheels than my 19's and taking out that heavy OEM battery would have definitely pushed it over 119 and into the 11.8 range. Its hard to compete with the 135i when they have the weight advantage and short wheel base. I was fighting traction for most of the night. But running 11's and pulling almost 119mph traps on the totally stock exhaust, cats, intercooler, downpipes etc, is a pretty good showing for a totally quiet street BMW. Some white EVO came up next to me on the trip home, and I left him so bad on the HWY, that after 3 tries he just gave up.
Additionally on the 90 mile segment starting before I went up the Grapevine, I reset my MPG gauge and averaged over 31MPG all the way home. Hows that for versatility!
Mo, Thanks for all you help in setting up this event. Everyone is was so nice and helpful. Before I left, I helped people who had to borrow my jack, jumper, compressor, impact wrench, etc. They were such nice people, gave me cookies and soda! I ended up being the last person to leave. Was kind of strange to see the place so quiet and dark!
So yes, at Sacramento, you should use the performance box. If it says you are running 132mph, Im sure your runs are really over 130mph. The sea level and air quality are excellent a Sacramento. Especially for someone like me with stock turbos, etc, I need the most dense air possible going into the turbos.

The song at the beginning was on the radio, very ironic.
This will give ya a feel for the morning, the nos wen't back in late afternoon.
I failed to get Sal's run, as well as Ricks but they are on a much higher quality vid as a pro was there all day.
Enjoy

Each event we host, you show up with your car and shock the heck out of everyone. Your car should NOT be put down as a car anymore...... next time, we'll list it as a rocket
The man data logs and fine tunes his tuning at the strip and in the real world. It's not just a dyno tune.... it's actually a real world tune. I highly recommend him for tuning the 335 engine to anyone looking to do so

Lots of pics and videos to come, here's a teaser. The videos will take a while as they are in full HD and I need to get some additional software before I can edit them.

It was great meeting you yesterday, and it was great watching that crazy beast of yours run down the track. I now have no doubt what so ever that an E92 M3 with only bolt-ons can go 11.9x and even 11.8x
Can't wait till the next event!
. I was running around playing host to all the participants and guests all day yesterday from 9:30 to 8:00 p.m. without a break. I only got to run my car 3 times yesterday: 12.8, 12.7, and 12.6. But my friend took over and ran it a few more times and got it down to 12.4x so I can't complain.Sal, it was honestly an honor to run with the quickest/fastest SL55 in the world. We have to do it again soon....
Maybe January
