Depends on the season
Question about Open Diffs
The E55 is the first RWD car I've owned with an open rear. Had the ESP off the other day and got onto the highway with my foot on it and is it just me or is it less controllable then a locking rear?

Cypher,
Open diffs are garbage. Mercedes tries to compensate for an open diff with ESP. If you turn ESP off, you are essentially disabling what limited traction control the car has. We all are upset at the lack of an LSD on these cars, and there are reasonably priced options if you want to upgrade to one.
