Sick of my Tin Can full of Marbles (E63) Pinging....

I don't think its as simple as carbon build up, if it is simple techron in the tank won't do it, you will have to do a true BG injector cleaner flush job and clean out your fuel rails, injectors, combustion cylinders & etc (its like $150-200 service).
If your car did it right out of the box and has been doing it for 2 years, there is something else wrong. There may actually be a manufacturing defect of some kind. Keep contacting the AMG rep to trouble shoot the problems and report back what it was.

So 60% of the time when I get on the gas, the engine pings terribly because the timing is retarded. Have talked w service advisors at Mercedes dealers in different states, they say this is a common issue - sounds like marbles rolling around in a tin can. This is due to the fact I can only run 91 octane, instead of recommended 95. Tried octane booster and it does improve the problem. Friend of mine recommended Toluene (at Ace next to Lacquer Thinner), said he uses it in a Turbo racecar running like 30 pounds of boost. Any experience ??

Sorry it's from a M3 forum, but you get the point.

Your car doesn't really require 95 - that is the European octane rating, which is different than ours here stateside. I think 95 equates to around 91 U.S., you should be fine running 91, as many members here state. From a quick google search:
