Supercharged 63...is it ever going to happen?
I browse the E92 M3 forums from time to time, and keep seeing all these supercharger kits popping up for the M3. I've read of at least 6 that are done or very close to it from companies like Gintani, GPower, ESS, Active Autowerkes, Vortech, etc. I'm just puzzled how the M3 market can support all these projects, yet our 63 which is used in multiple platforms can't even support one?
I wonder if we could petition one of the BMW developers to help us 63 guys out.
Show them there is enough interest to at least look into it, or maybe there isn't any? ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
I particulary like the ESS setup which looks so clean and stealthy looking.

VRP started a project to supercharge a CLK63 3 years ago, but then the project was later abandoned. RARfinancial tried to revive it, but it got no where ![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Brabus has a twin turbo kit but it's supposed to be only for the ML63 and the price is![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I agree with you.... it would be nice to have a supercharged or turboed 63 engine around.

There are no real tuners in the Mercedes market. Everyone just does baby basic ***** and simple fabrication. If the tuners can FI the M3's then theres no reason why an 63 engine isn't possible ... yet here we are with zilch.
I would've never gotten rid of my SL63, and Supercharged it if there was a real tuner around doing it, but nope.

But from reading posts in the past, it seems like that is what has kept a lot of 55k owners from making the jump to the 63. I just think a s/c kit would open up a whole new market for the 63 platform. Instead of losing 55k guys to other brands when trade-in time comes, it sounds like quite a few would stick around with a F/I 63, even if an aftermarket solution.

if it works out well they will release it as a kit for others to buy.
they also want to develop other parts for amg cars and in the near future u should see them here as a sponsor on the board.

or maybe because benz anounced about the new 5.5 TT which is 580hp and milage will be 1.8g/100km due to its 4 cylender cut off system on the highways and low rpms.
^_^
so i prefer to wait for it 2 years them buying a 63 and tune it.

This is absolutely true. "Tuning" for Mercedes means you are buying stuff from WinOLS, Dimsport, or whoever else. There is no real competition, no innovation. We get slap happy for what in other tuning circles are trivial parts. The quote goes competition is the disciplinarian in the market economy, however without true competition we just have to sit back and keep dealing with wholly underwhelming development for these platforms. The M113 55K is 7 years old for Christ's sake and we've only picked up 10-12mph without using nitrous.

New pistons will make the high compression issue go away as well as a GREAT tune.

All those with 63 engines enjoy your 507HP in good health. How much is enough? Want supercharged power in a light weight frame get the ZR1.

I've been waiting for a supercharger for quite a while now too. M's are a larger market than AMG's I would think, hence more tuners/parts. Everyone keeps saying that the high compression of the 63 is an issue, but isn't the M3's compression even higher? Their supercharger kits will be bolt on and not require internal modifications as far as I am aware. For the transmission, could a valve body upgrade be possible?
