Maybe the car was reposessed and the guy drove the wheels off of it not caring about the fees. Or it was a company car, so the guy did not care because he was not paying. LOL!!

I would venture a guess that if it was a loyal Mercedes customer and they leased another car there probably could be some magic in making those mileage penalty dollars disappear.

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
More how it is treated and cared for vs the mileage under most circumstances. Even the leather will hold up nicely if treated properly.

2004 W211 E55: almost a quarter of a million kilometers... 153K miles. Uses some oil and smokes a bit under hard accelleration. Only problems to date:
3x airmatic shocks
2x engine mountings
supercharger pulley bearing
alternator diode pack
supercharger coolant pump (Johnson replacement doing quite well)

Some of the 469 horses have bolted and not come back but still does 370RWHP which is sufficient.

Just got my 05 with 72k but she's been maintained perfectly and it shows. I'm prepared for whatever hiccups may come though. She can't possibly cost as much as I put into my built turbo Lightning, so I say BRING ON THE REPAIR BILLS! LOL!

After 40 years of building/driving muscle cars, my now 100,000 mile 2005 E55 is so enjoyable that I'm looking forward to putting on the highest mileage that I've ever clocked.

Now onto the 155,000 mile Mercedes High Mileage Award.

05 E55 with 113K. So far replaced both front shocks, alternator, SC Clutch, SC Tensioner Pulley. It is still a badass car that can be a pain in the ***.

My 04 just turned 140k , now in the shop for both front lower ball joints , other than that , that's pretty much it bought it since 98k, broke my intake manifold or so at 120k , and regular brakes , rotors , and that about sums it up

122k miles on my 2004, bought it with 50k in 2010 from the original owner. biggest issues so far have been the Camshaft sensor and making the tires last
