How to get into the trunk?

So, I have a slight dilema. I disconnected the battery and then closed the trunk. So, my key fob does no good. The doors are unlocked, but the trunk latch is electric, so nothing happens when I pull the handle. Next, I tried the metal key. Well, somehow the key in my fob doesn't fit my car. I had never tried it and all of the Benzes in my family are newer and so have the different keys. My only guess is that the key got swapped out by mistake at some point....

So, given that i can't find the second metal key.....what to do? Is it as simple as calling the dealership, giving the VIN and getting a key cut?

Since the car is going to MB on Monday, is there another way for me to get into the trunk? Help!!

use the little key in your key fob to manually open the truck... like normal cars.

A Prius because I'm green
Do any Mercedes have jump points in the engine bay or no? I always been told it's not good to jump start these cars I'm assuming because of all the electronics? So maybe since the battery is in the trunk there aren't any? Sorry to hear about that man, and I don't think you can remove the rear seat without being in the trunk correct? My C class has handles in the trunk to pull since they are not split folding but I never took out the E class seats?

The cable on the rear battery is disconnected. Wouldn't this kill the attempt to jump it? I even have the baby battery in the engine bay but that doesn't run the car (IMO).

HELP!!

I do NOT have fold down seats but wonder if I can reach the emergency trunk release (in the trunk) if I remove the rear seat back?

HELP!!!

That's what I am curious about but I never took the seat out. Neither have split folding seats and for the C class I had to remove the rear seat cushion then after some bolts on the bottom of the back rest portion of the seat I had to reach in to the trunk on the top to pull two levers to release the seat. I'm curious if the E has the same set up let me go check mine out now and see.

My E doesn't have those straps (my dad's deos) but I wonder if I won't be able to reach the trunk release (the little yellow button on the trunk door).

Yea mine don't either, I wonder how the seat comes out then. You really only need it back a little to get say like a broom or something in to reach that far back?

Perhaps try the regular W211 E class guys, there has to be someone in there that can help you out.

I know on the W210's as long as you didn't lock the trunk manually, as long as the doors were unlocked you could just push the button on the back all the way in and the trunk would pop.

Great idea!

The tank (W210) has the button that is mechanical (and is typical of all germans until recently), but I have a magnetically actuated pull handle. We also have a buttom (I think it is electric) to lock / unlock the trunk but that is also "dead". I'm hating it.

connect a 12 volt power source to either a postive terminal under the hood, or if none available, you have to connect it to the power cable on the back of the alternator. Hit the trunk open button on the inside of the car, there should be enough power to open the trunk

Will do. I guess I assumed disconnected battery meant no circuit but I get it now!

I think your best bet is to call the dealer and have a metal key cut (Not entire remote) and I think wholesale cost is $12 or $16 or similar. Although I'm not sure about the time frame because I believe they are all done near Fort Worth.

Yup, Dunno and Yup

I think I'm going to pick up a DD just to have (Jeep Rubicon) and then look for a project car. Something stock. Hopefully a 63 if I can find a reliable tuner to do induction. The new tranny may be key for me. If not, maybe an older 55k or 65 but the bodies / options are faded some.

Don't bother taking apart the back of the seat, it does not go into the trunk completely. There are only two little cubby holes on each side, not big enough to stick your hand through. The metal part of the key will still open up the trunk with the battery disconnected. If you really want, you can order a new cut key from the dealer and it only takes one day, but I don't think it is worth it in your case. and btw, the batt in the front is for "convenience functions," such as heated/cooled seats, blower high power, parktronic, etc...
