I was driving home last night on the highway and all of a sudden at 80mph my dash lights up red, the cluster says "stop brake malfunction" and i have absolutely no brakes. I pulled over, turned off the car and and started it back up and the car was fine. I must say that it was an experience that I will never want to go through again. Before this happend I had a malfunction -"BRAKE"-service brake visit workshop. I am assuming that this has a role in my brakes going missing. I do not have warranty anymore and my mechanic is a coming up with no answers. The only thing is the brake switch but i changed it a little while back. Does anyone on here have a clue as to what it may be is causing the car to lose brakes.

I believe the SBC unit has a 10 yr warranty. Bring it in to have it checked at the dealer.

Really? That is very good to know thank you. I am assuming that this unit controls the brakes?

yes it is.. i have to take mine in as well...blue message...mine is parked up at the moment. let us know how it goes..

Ok so i just got off the phone with MBUSA and the SBC unit is covered on our cars until 2014. Now I have to reach out to the stealer and make an appointment. I pray that this unit is bad because I was told by my mechanic that the part is very expensive. At least I am alive, not fun at all to experience!! Thank you guys for the info, definately made my morning alot better.
