Look, I am not saying you don't know what you are talking about... I definitely know you aren't the end-all and be-all of every STAR DAS system out there! Unless you have specifically purchased a system from this company, you cannot comment on them... And, as you specifically stated, it isn't your money, so why continue the comments? Unless you can specifically answer my question, I could care less what your comments are...

Guys, having a hard time finding the differences between the C3 and C4 SDS clones. I see people in this thread using both. Is there a reason to pay the difference for the C4, over the C3?

Hi Benz
The only difference is in form factor that I can see, the C4 is cost reduced from the C3. The C4 uses standard IEEE 1284(cheaper) which makes the unit physically smaller, where the C3 uses different types of connectors. I have used both. I am talking strictly about the clones here. I actually have a spare one I bought one for a local independent but they backed out. It's a few months old but I have only used it maybe 3 times myself and 2 or 3 times for friends. A few months ago, the only other difference was in the software revisions. The C3s had newer software at that time.
There may be some other differences in support for commercial Benz products (vans and trucks) too but that won't affect us.

Might be helpful for those looking to buy. You have to read slowly and drink a beer to understand it, but it clears things up. Kinda.
You've got PM too.

Hi folks it is me again with the fault in the Voice Control system (Linguatronic), i.e., it is not working at all.
I finally went to Mercedes and had it checked by the dealer; guess what, there is no fault; everything is reported as working ok.
I cannot blame the Star system so I have to find the problem with the Mercedes technician. How can he find the problem if I go there again? What should I tell him what he should try instead?
Do we have SDS cracks on this thread?

On my CLK63 I recently changed it to "Rest Of World" configuration (which also turns off the side markers on U.S. units) and while I was going though the installed options list I turned on the cornering light function even though it was not part of the original options list. Surprise! The left and right fog lights now function as cornering lights! I think it is part of the bi-xenon lighting package and is normally only activated with the lighting package. My CLK63 originally had halogens, but I installed aftermarket HID's which are quite a bit brighter than the factory units.

The fogs are standard halogen, the headlights are HID's, so no problem. If you install aftermarket HID's you have to reprogram the control unit so they do not flicker as the system sees them as a standard bulb failure.

Each model is a bit different, but when you find it you will also find that your fogs will stay on with your high beams. U.S. versions turn off fogs when high beams are on and I think the key warning also goes away with most models.
