E63 Valve Trouble

I have a 2007 E63, I have been told the valve is gone and that the engine may need to be replaced. Still under warrantee, but they are doing all the paper work to ensure it is covered under the warrantee before they go too deep in.

Question for everyone - let's say they had to replace engine - I am thinking it will be a refurbished one - what does it do to performance? And what about resale value? Do I have any grounds to ask to replace the car?

They have gotten back to me and told me it will be new engine. Any thoughts on the effects on residual value? I have it on a lease.

I dont think it will affect the residual value, as long its not factory BuyBack. I wonder how the valve was GONE, its 07 E63 what posible made this happen ?

I have an 07 E63 that I've been driving very hard and had no issues what so ever..... what caused the valves to go?

I'm not sure it will affect residual, but it will definitely affect re-sale value when the bank tries to re-sell it. The car value will take a BIG hit.....

The car was not driven very hard at all. I think it was just one of those "one in a thousand" occurrences. They estimate the cost of the replacement engine is approx $75,000 - thank goodness for warrantees.

I am trying to push them to put me into a new lease - maybe a new E63, E550 or S550.

$75K for engine that is more than the car is worth, NEW 2009 E 63 sell for high $60s here in the US right now.
