The Cayenne is a totally new undertaking for Porsche. It is bound to have problems. Why be a test mule?
The E55, while totally new in design and much of its technology, is part of an evolution, not a "big bang" creation designed to send the company off in a different direction/demographic.
The E55 has the benefit of being part of a large stable of cars that share this tech and have fine-tuned it on the road for over a year (brake by wire, SC 55engine, ect.). Also DC has the benefit of being a HUGE car company, and sometimes that is good, as in this case with design and development and, if need be service. How many Cayenne buyers will be spending days, if not weeks, in loaner cars this year as Porsche techs learn the ins and outs of this new creation?
