2006 E55 Opal Black
Introduction...just joined the E55 family!
Hello All,
Before I go any further, I completely understand that this thread is worthless without pictures, but it's been a long day and the weather here in the Atlanta area is crappy.![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I am happy to say that I've joined the MB family with a 2006 E55 in Opal Black. Up until a couple of months ago I drove an 2006 M3 Convertible that unfortunately met its demise during the heavy rains and flooding in Atlanta. Going for practicality and some money in the bank, I replaced it with an Acura TSX, but going from 333hp to 205hp proved to be too much of a challenge.
A little background on me...from 1996 to 2007 I ran a similar online community to this one called F150online.com (http://www.f1500online.com). Like MBWorld, I sold the site to Internet Brands.
These days I enjoy driving and running my other automotive related business called Ownersite (http://www.ownersite.com).
I look forward to getting to know this community and learning more about this amazing vehicle. One thing I already know is that it is incredibly dangerous, in that it is so quiet and refined that the sensation of speed and performance is almost non-existent...until you glance down at the speedometer, that is!

I have yet to see a Black Opal E55, but that is my very favourite Benz colour. My 2000 CLK320 was Black Opal with Oyster interior. Congrats!
Here's my old 208 with my old 210 Emerald Black E320 (very close to Black Opal).

Probably best bang for your buck is a stage 1 upgrade (larger pulley and ECU mod) and upgraded heat exchanger/IC pump...then I would next get lighter wheels, lighter rotors, and toe links.
then...if you get a little out of control
long tube headers
phenolic spacers
larger throttle body
exhaust cutouts
xpipes or straight pipes
aggressive camshafts
port and polished heads
LSD
New airbox with better air filters
nitrous
PS The only thing I haven't done yet is the nitrous...

2006 E55 Opal Black
My M3 was Carbon Black Metallic, which looked like a very deep blue in the sunlight and black at night. The E55 color is even more of a chameleon. It's deep blue under some light, with very little hint of metallic paint, but under some sunlight it has a yellow/green/blue tinge to it. Under the flourescent light of my garage it looks black. It's a very cool color(s).

Finally got around to taking a picture or two. Definitely needs a detail.
It's a great color, but I have yet to find much "Black" in it.
