Hello, I'm trying to identify where the ECU is and how to remove it. I think I've found it. It's in the engine cabin on the driver's side just beneath the windshield wiper beneath the rubber cover with flaps. Is it the box that looks about like the shape of an iPhone and is silverish in color with one black wrapped set of cables coming off of it and is screwed down with three black torx screws? I guess I could've taken a picture, heh :-S
Guys, I found out that what I was describing is not the ECU. For future reference it’s under the rubber panel (with fringe on it), inside a hard-cased black plastic box with two little deadbolt icons on it. Pull the top of that case off and you should see a black box within that box that says “Bosch” on it with some numbers and 4 or 5 sets of wires coming off of it. That's the ECU. It's attached with clips that can be undone w/o tools.
VERY important for you future searchers of this thread NOTNOT to tug on the wires to remove the plugs. They are very stubborn and the tempation is overwhelming but just don't. You loosen one of those hundred or so wires and you have doomed yourself to countless hours of tracing it down not to mention CELs from the car missing a sensor signal.
Small flat head screwdriver gently rocked back and forth between plug and socket once it is ready to come out will pop her right out.
I'm sure it is. Baby steps! Right now I have panel filters and nothing else. Gotta get that tune on there with the pulley, then the headers and then I'll see if I want more.

That's great to know. Thanks for the advice. It makes sense now that you say it. Has the plastic panel on top ever gotten stuck for you guys? I pulled the top off so easily last night, but I went back tonight to try and pull it off, but it's totally stuck. It's the side closest to the wheelwell.
