OT: Just saw the CTS-V Challenge
I just saw the CTS-V challenge on Speed. And of course the CTS-V came out on top with the time of 2 minute and 45 second. The quickest challenger was a BMW M3, and he was about 7 second behind. The was no MB in the challenge. The challenger are M3, M5, RS4, Jaguar XJR, and an Evolution X. The M3 was the only challenger to break the 3 minute lap too. It was good watching, but we all knew what's going to happen.

Barolo S550, 2010 E, 1966 SL & others.
It was disturbing how pedestrian the "competitors" were. As the narrator announced their "stats" each & every competitor was listed as "little to no track experience" yet the caddy drivers were "high level of track experience." I can't imagine they would expect anyone to take this seriously.
Now don't get me wrong, I like the CTS-V for what it is, a brute power rocket. But I said to my wife as I watched "an E63 would end this comparison with a win" (as long as they put a driver with more than stoplight experience in it).
The show just aggravated me and I think it was a cheap shot by GM to get some rather favorable results to the press.

Then again, all of those media releases are incentivized by a manufacturer one way or the other...
Objectivity flew out the window decades ago...Hell, Jeremy Clarkson can't even do it - how do you expect a columnist to???

Bob Lutz finished 7th or so...
The WINNER was John Heinricy, a professional GM test driver.
The BMW M3 driver is a 20-something year-old amateur. Pretty impressive for such a difficult track, especially considering the track was wet.
The CTS-V challenge was set-up from the beginning as guaranteed GM win, by GM. GM also had the legal right to refuse ANY entry they wanted, so even if BMW or AMG had entered their best pro drivers w/their best cars, GM could have declined. Not a big deal IMO. If AMG wants to set up an "AMG Challenge" that they could guarantee a win with using pro drivers, they could do that too.

was this the monticello track???? How funny cadi picked that track since they own a piece of it they probably thought they were a lock .
they had contacted me in regards to going and asked me all the questions , Once they found out the car has another 50hp over stock and that it would be driven by a professional racer they never got back to me .

I saw the show as well. It was obviously a paid infomercial by GM on Speed, but was still cool to watch. I think you need to take it all with a grain of salt and see the big picture, that an American manufacturer is finally trying to hang with the German big boys. While the competition was tilted in GM's favor and produced the results they wanted, GM has every right to do so since they're the ones hosting the challenge and paying for the air time. The CTS-V is a nice, capable car. And short of a Corvette, it's the only American car that's truly track worthy and styleish in 25+ years.
All that said, I chose to buy an AMG instead. Eat it, Lutz.

It appearred to me, that this test was one sided. It was stacked in favor of Cadillac, with no real competitiors, liike a Audi RS6, E63, or E55, C63, Lexus IS-F. But your are right is saying that, all the competitors cars were driven by in-experienced people, where as the Cadillac drivers were professionals. They should have had an independant driver, lapping all the cars for the best time. And some tires have better traction, both is the wet and dry, that wasn't factored.
