I too switched from an RS6 to an E55. Needed a wagon, and was tired of terminal understeer.
I have run Dunlop snows tires on both and think the Audi was about 20% better in the snow. All wheel drive does help.
However, I used to always bottom out in the RS, not so with the E55, just push the button and up she goes.

Don't be afraid of the weather. Nobody here went cheap on their car, so don't go cheap on your tires! Snow tires rock.

245 dunlop 3d's all around. I think I liked my M3's better for overall snow traction, but the car does quite well up here in NH.

I just got my E63 3 months ago and had a terrible time this weekend driving it in less than an inch of snow. Why did you remove the AMG Rims and go to the cheap MSW's? Will the salt/snow destroy the rims?

snow/salt will not destroy them, but statistically, there's a better chance of not seeing or otherwise making contact with curbs, and since you should go narrower for snow use, different size rear rims were sort of needed anyway, hence the cheap msw's.

Thanks Dr G. Just called my local tire shop to get me pricing on the wheels and MSW's. Which MSW's did you order?

Great post
I stopped by a shop last week and found out that Vredestein's make a winter/snow tire.
The owner told me that the winters come stock on bmw and mb in germany. Im not sure if anyone has used them or also knows about them, but they might be worth a try, based on vredesteins rep so far.
