MB-BOB, anemic is a harsh word just because you like the sponsors better and especially when you have not seen the quality in person. I agree 100% that DFWdude's badges are more noticeable and probably take a little bit more work, but I do not think one is better than other. It is really a matter of preference and I would not mind owning both just to switch back and forth every few months. GL with sales DFWdude!

You presume I haven't seen both badges in person... but I have. If you really would not mind owning both, then I would encourage you to rock a DFWdude badge for a week... you won't go back.

I think the white star is much more classic, or retro. It does fade to a yellowish tint (at least mine did) but that actually gives it a patina making it even more retro looking, imho.
The other one has too much of an aftermarket feel with the more generic looking plain tristar.
Yeah I know, it's all subjective.
I'm still not partial to the AMG block lettering on either of them, but might change my mind over time.

In the past, a few people made a constructive observation, wishing that the WHITE STAR insert were more "three dimensional," standing out more from the rest of the badge.
So, when I found the new factory, I remembered this and went back to the drawing board to push the limits of vertical relief that could be had in the metal WHITE STAR insert stamping.
A comparison between the original design (badges 003-365 - left) and the inserts used in current production (right) is noted below. There's now more depth in the parts.

Is the new star outlined the same way as the old design? Can't really tell from the pic. If it is, I might have to pick one up to complement my other two. How are the sales going of the new AMG badges? Certainly like my AMG badge.

If I understand your question, the star inserts are of different diameters. The original insert is slightly larger in diameter, which required me to mill away a part of the rim of the Laurel Wreath that surrounds it. The current production insert is ever so slightly smaller (just .020") so that more of the surrounding rim is preserved. It's a very subtle change taking advantage of experience with poured metal shrinkage of parts. I'm surprised you can notice it.

The White Star IS the original OEM style. I sell these as custom badges only. You can see any of the more than 1,000 North Americas dealers for a current, OEM plastic, SLK badge.

Yes, sack, I have posted pictures of a new design with more depth in relief. There are lots of pictures of the original design on cars in the older threads, but I would like to see some new pictures of this new design on people's cars.
There now are nearly 50 of the new design in circulation. Can you folks post some pictures, please?

It fits the W220 perfectly (see picture below). And yes I accept PayPal.
Now, if you'll show interest by investing 15 secs of your time to click on my e-mail addy below my signature, I'll happily send you all the details. When I am asked to take the first step to PM or email someone, I never hear anything back.

Here's a few pics of the AMG badge on my car. I really prefer the smooth profile that this badge gives the car, as opposed to the factory star emblem.

I personally think the AMG badge adds contrast between it and the grille (star) badge on the post 07 sedans, avoiding the double star look.

Occasionally I get this question in e-mail, but three people have asked about it this week. So I thought I would clarify here.
You do NOT have to be a member of MBWorld.org in order to purchase one of my badges. Guests are welcome to inquire as well.

There aren't many good photos yet of my new AMG badge on cars, so I've taken the liberty to repost black_e63's excellent photo from above to my photo gallery so you can see it in full size here. This photo shows a nice contrast between the AMG badge and the stock grille badge. This is important for those seeking to avoid the "double badge" look.
Of course, most people are primarilly interested in losing the upright star... and the uniqueness of the AMG Badge... there are less than 30 of the AMG Badge on the planet as of today.
