OK so we have a LR Disco3, and we just had a decent dump of snow. For the amount of times it snows here I am not going to get a seperate set of winters, so was looking at the LR snow traction system.
Thing is its ~$700, and regular snow chains are ~$150-$250 for a decent self centering, self tensioning set.
Anyone use the LR product? What chain setup do u guys use on your SUV's?
We maybe have a month of snow a year - and 2-4 decent dumps... almost not worth the effort but hey we need to get around and today I found myself skating into a pavement... which was good actually because that meant I missed the wall I was heading towards!!!
Any info / advice welcome from you snow weather experts - well some of you anyway!!

I personally would never use chains. I have a set of nice winter rims/tires that I utilize for the days when the E55 must be driven. Otherwise, pick yourself up a beater truck and keep the E asleep for the crummy days!

Only time we would use chains is when it's hammering snow and we are trying to make it up or down to the valley floors from the 8500ft+ elevation ski resorts. What chain setup do u guys use on your SUV's?
Otherwise our QX56 chomps right through with all seasons on er.

What rubber do u recommend? Nearly due for a rubber change on the disco , may as well go for all weathers...Originally Posted by Jakpro1
