2004 E55 ... Should I buy?
Hello all, Im new here and have a few questions....
My Father is currently selling his 2004 e55 AMG. It has about 87,000 miles on it and has 19" Black centers with polished lip. Maintained regularly. Very good condition. This car is so insanely fast, and it blows my mind how cheap you can buy these thing for!!! Anyways, he started the price at $20,000 and Im wondering how that deal sound to you guys? He will be detailing the thing and making sure everything is dialed. Im thinking of driving it for a year or so and then selling it. I might even be able to get it for 19,000 - 18,000. What do you think?
Also...
My concerns are:
1) Re-sale in a year or so... how much will it be worth? I put about 10k miles a year on my cars.
2) Maintenance - What are the maintenance cost for this beast?
3) Future problerms - Are their any known issues with the e55's that could cost me a pretty penny in the near future?
Thanks in advance!

The SEARCH function is your friend...
In the meantime, for your deal IMO...
Pluses:
* Known car in your family; you know the maintenance history, warranty repairs/problems & care it received (better or worse).
* Good price.
Minuses
* Maintenance costs on a $90K car won't be cheap. Just 'cause it's $20k now doesn't mean it will be repaired like a $20k new car. They're expensive to keep up without warranty.
If the car hasn't had problems "known issues" by now, it should be in pretty good shape. The IC pump is a popular replacement/upgrade on 55s.
Good luck!

However if you are so concerned about all this then why even bother with a high mileage car and that too for a year.
The point is,it's not easy to sell a car with 100,000 miles let alone a performance car..
Hope that helps..
