Advice: Going to Las Vegas

I'm going to Las Vegas in a couple weeks and I'm dying to take my car but from what I remember on my last trip a few months ago they are still doing construction on the I-15 so I don't want to bend my 20s.

So, how should I do this:

1. Take wife's car.

2. Take my car but drive at the speed limit and lower the tire pressure a couple pounds so it will absorb the force from striking those gnarly expansion joints that litter the construction zones.

3. Take my car and drive normally (above the speed limit) because the roads are fine now.

You comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated

If the road is not that bad I would just take your car and when you get into rougher road drive slower and raise the suspension so your bottom of the car does not get scratched up. Also, obviously stay far behind large trucks or cars who kick up rocks. Have fun...

That's the thing, I don't know if the construction is finished

Check using Microsoft Live Maps. You can check the entire route and see if there is construction and everything, it is pretty cool.

I tried that but it doesn't tell me anything about construction http://www.bing.com/maps/#JmNwPTM1Lj...9wPTB+MH4wfg==

I would not roll on 20s that far with the unknowns! Take the X5 and enjoy the comfort.

I think you're right.

I just finished downloading Tiesto's In Search of a Sunrise 7 so I'll definitely have some good tunes to listen to on the way there

Any suggestions for sushi, I heard Nobu in Hard Rock is pretty good.

You will bend a barrel or a lip, take a rock to the lip or something stupid then you will be pissed the rest of your trip.

Drive your car, enjoy it and drive normally. For sushi, Nobu is good and so is Sushi Roku. Make sure you hit the Rhino

Haaa! If I had your money I would just bring an extra set of rims and a mechanic to change them when I got there! LOL

I'm worried about that too because I took off the clear bra from the hood (I left it on the front bumper) because it got so dull compared to the rest of the car (I follow FMinus' threads and have it polished almost 95% to his level so it's supper shiny ).

I can't wait for this trip, taking care of a baby (he is nine months) is so much work especially since he is so energetic. I wonder how people in their teens and early twenties can do it when they don't have a good job and their future and education aren't set.

Road Trip

I just did a road trip this past two weeks from San Francisco, Palm Springs, Tucson, Scottsdale Arizona and to Las Vegas for New Year.

I can assure you that I didn't hit any road construction from Vegas to Northern CAL.

I'm not sure the road going to Vegas from Los Angeles.

...they DON'T do it, which is why we have the society we have full of misfits & losers. Don't get me started. Sounds like you're obviously doing it the right way w/yours.

Have fun in Vegas. I agree, Nobu is excellent.

Also try the French restaurant at the base of the Paris/Eiffel Tower, and get the filet mignon w/the merlot-butter reduction sauce. It's their house specialty and will blow your effing mind if you like steak.

It also seems like responsible people have trouble conceiving while immature/irresponsible people reproduce like rabbits

I'll definitely try Nobu. I would try the French but I have dinner reservations for the other night. Maybe I'll extend the trip by one day to relax some more and have more good food

Car Whore
I was just in Vegas about 3 weeks ago, and I drove my GTR with 20" wheels there.
The roads were fine to the strip. The construction on the I-15 was farther down the I-15 past the strip, and even then it wasn't that bad as I drove thru it heading to the Vegas speedway one day.

You should be fine ...

My best friend just got back from Vegas today and said the roads aren't bad at all.

Drive the car I can't wait to take mine out there in march

What a coincidence... I just arrived in Vegas today in the 55... The ride up for the most part was pretty smooth and there was no construction at all... I came from the bay area, 580 to 5 to 99 to 58 to 15... there are some city streets having some major construction done, but traffic is so heavy that I doubt you'll be able to do any damage as long as you keep your eyes open...

Have a safe drive!

I may have seen a few of you just before Christmas--22-25th, I spotted three E55s. Two silver ones (one had aftermarket wheels, dropped, 2 guys in the front seats), the other was white.

I stayed at the new Aria/Vdara City Center and saw both silver E55s there.

The new City Center is pretty badass if I may say so.

Flying is by far the best. When you drive there you're excited, so it's a fun drive. But when you drive back and there's traffic all the way to Barstow, that sucks big time!

Also, don't lower the air in your tires if you're running 20's! That will cause you to do more possible damage to both your wheels and tires than running correct air pressure. I run about 38 all around in my 20's, and when they get hot they go up to 40-41, and that's just perfect right there.

Oh and for food in Vegas, if you're into Buffets, the one at the Wynn is a must!
