painted grill before and after pics

Just got my grill back (actually, a second grill that I bought off of ebay). Subtle difference is that I bought one with four fins instead of the AMG five fins. So to date:
1) CF lip
2) CF diffuser
3) Eurocharged/LET tune (just got it done this weekend while visiting the parents in Philly)
4) DCT flat bottom steering wheel
5) tinted windows (35%)
6) hardwired radar detector)
7) euro bumperstrips
8) painted front grill
ordered and impatiently waiting for (you hear me Godfather):
1) 19 in titanium forgestar f14
2) CF intake tubes from Eurocharged to begin the next cosmetic phase.

Before: (five fin)

After: (painted four fin)

Thanks B. yep. . .no kids and a wife who cringes everytime I mention AMG because she knows whats coming next. . .need to get the love from somewhere I keep going back and forth about the drop but who are we kidding - it's probably ending up lower (just not slammed)

.
love that movie!!!!!

I rolled the dice and just got the "regular" 211 grill (four fins) since I didn't know if I'd like the painted grill (search for "211 grill" or "e class grill" instead of "e55" or "amg"). When I went to the dealership - they quoted close to four hundred dollars - I got this used one for 40.00. Pics really don't do this mod justice - in person it looks so much better.

Love the 4 fin grille. Don't really know why it just looks great!

The forgestars are going to look sick! Glad you went away from the ever so popular black.

Can't wait to see them on there.

Well done sir

Me too - I can't put my finger on it but even when I held it up to the front when it was still silver I liked it better. I'm keeping the five fin one as my "winter grill"; the front end has been taking a beating with all the salt/sand on the road from all the snow we've had and I know this will chip easily - I'm seriously considering parking it until spring but for whatever reason, it just keeps calling me.

Thank you sir! I'm really looking forward to seeing how its going to look - I was originally going to go with gunmetal but Godfather keep telling me to go with titanium and the more I looked at the blog with black and titanium the more I liked them. I had send Godfather a Mea Culpa PM admitting he was right - that was painful.

First words out of Worth the Waits mouth when he saw it this morning (we were both randomly at Benz Elite). My simple, emasculated reply, wife won't let me - she likes it too much (insert castration animation here).

You know what's funny is the more you paint black, the more you think the chrome stands out. It is kind of addicting...lol.

Very nice! looks great with the OG chrome and blacked out grille.

I agree about the 4 slat grille, before I bought my AMG Sport package, I didn't know why, but I liked something about the front end more than an E55's, then later on I found out that it had the "Elegance" packages 4 slat grille (obviously to try and separate it from an E55 somewhat, albeit pretty subtly). The fact that the silver-pewter slats already come painted the same color as my car helped as well.

Please post a link to the grille you purchased off of ebay- I ask because different sellers may sell worse quality.

SICK deal! The guys I deal with in the DC area (Benz Auto Elite) have a paint shop they farm out their work to so I lucked out from that perspective. What is interesting is that the guys at BAE sent it back after they got it the first time, made them re-sand and re-apply to get it right (which let me know that this is not the easiest thing to do). I've seen threads where guys have done it themselves but I have a friend who's like that (a DIY'er) but you should see his garage and workshop. You really need the right tools to make any DIY look good.

Yeah, can't wait for the forgestars - don't forget to post pics once you get them on. Thanks about the Duc

For some reason I couldn't copy the pics to continue them on but your car looks really good - I love the 63 conversion. . . and with the colour matched grill very nicely done.

Thanks! It is very subtle and unless you see them side by side it doesn't really stand out. I didn't even know there was a difference until I started looking. I personally prefer the four to the five (even unpainted) but they both look good.

It was a private party so I don't why he was selling it or why he had it It was in good condition (not perfect) but I wasn't looking for brand new since this was a "experiment" for me. I am happy with the way it turned out, but, it did have to go back twice.

It would be interesting to see what a light color car would look like with color matched (2 stage) paint.

I've seen a gray one with a colour matched grill that looks absolutely sick!!!!! I'm pretty sure silver would look just as good.
