First oil change

Sorry for the stupid question but I am a newbie to the world of AMG. I bought an 09 E63 in October brand new with 30 miles on the car. I have about 2800 miles on the car. When should I get my first oil change? Also, should I be adding any oil prior to the first change? If so, any ideas on what oil?

Thanks in advance for helping a rookie.

well dealer recommands changing the oil at 10k if im not mistaken they should do it under warranty along with changing the spark plugs etc... Thats atleast what they did when my parents got there 03 E500 new. I would reccomand changing the oil every 5k to 7k miles thats atleast what i do. But call your mb dealer that you take your car in for service and they should be more helpful im sure. As far as oil mobil syntetic is what MB uses from factory Since my car is out of warranty at the moment i use TOTAL (elf) syntetic 5w40. Orig weight is 0w40 again not 100% sure. But this is my theory of this everybody is diffrent so you might get a diffrent response from the guys or gals on the board. Sorry for the long write up lol. Good Luck.

Some people think you should change the oil after the break in period. I think it's a good idea. After that the dealer will tell you every 10,000. My E63 eats about a quart every 5K so I check it at least once a month. I just use Mobil 1 to keep with the dealer. Amsoil or Royal Purple are great alternatives. They even sell Royal Purple at Auto Zone now.

I would probably change out your oil at about 5000 miles, then after that when your car tell you, about 10000 miles or so. I just changed mine at 19000, last month. As far as adding oil, check your levels, or if the car tells you you too.

Don't forget, it's not just miles. What is the build date of your 2009? It was sitting on the lot for well over a year. Production of the 2009 W211 stopped in September 2008, iirc.

I dumped the break-in oil right away because my build date was almost a year from the date I took delivery. MBUSA recommended that I do it, and they contacted the dealer and they did it for free.

I also did an oil analysis ($22.50) and it showed fuel dilution, water in oil, and the TBN additives had dropped. Any car sitting on a dealer's lot doesn't get driven enough and when it does, it's only for a very short time to move it around the lot. That's not good.

I say change it now. Then do it every 7.5k. Each time do an analysis. If it looks good for the next two changes, then you can stretch the intervals. OCIs are based on driving habits and environment. The MB recommendation of 10k is a generalization. If you live in a sand blown desert and drive it as a taxi, or track it, etc., you need to adjust the OCI accordingly.

Change it now and then every 5k. I usually change my oil every 5k. If I drive hard the whole time, then I'll change it every 3k.
