E63 engine to be opened up at dealer...
After 2 trips to my local dealer complaining about an annoying lifter tick, a MB field engineer was called to validate the noise and recommend a solution. He agreed that the constant ticking sound that changes with the engine's RPM is not normal and recommended replacement of both cams and lifters on the right side of the engine.
This repair requires the Tech to dig deep into the engine to R&R the faulty components. I'm concerned that a repair of this nature is too complex for an average technician that may or may not be familiar with AMG engines or complex engine repairs. The Service Advisor assured me that they are qualified, so I OK'd the repair. The parts are on their way from Germany. Man, Am I glad my car is still under warranty...this is a 6-7 thousand dollar repair job.
Am I being paranoid or do I have a valid concern? Has anyone else had their engine opened up at the dealer?

Very risky.... but technically they ARE supposed to be qualified and they have to fix it right since the product is still warrantied. The only other alternative is to take it to a much bigger dealership that maybe employs AMG-specific techs
