Shredded Belts! Is this covered under Warranty?

I was driving today and some belts got shredded. 2 of them! Power steering went limp, cooling system failed, AC went out, alternator lost power. Errors all over the dash. Is this covered under CPO warranty?

Looks like this pulley got lose and messed everything up...

Umm...where'd the other pulley go?

EDIT: in all seriousness, that's where the double pulley is. Looks like the inner one (composite plastic) is long gone.

Yup that pulley is the culprit, not the belts. Most warranties will cover pulleys, so I'd imagine if you can show that a bad pulley caused the problem they will cover the belts too. I had a similar problem in a previous car I owned where a belt tensioner pulley's bearing seized and it melted the belt. The partially melted belt shredded, slipped, and then knocked off another belt.

Thank makes me feel good! It has to be the pulley. The pulley is shattered. All that's left is a ring of plastic on the inside. The belt is shredded and the one next to it jumped off.

Mercedes Road Side assistance is taking care of the tow to the dealer tonight. They'll work on it 1st thing in the morning according to my service adviser. So little miles and something like this happens. I'm a bit disappointed. Thank you for CPO.

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
I had the same thing happen to my 63.
Idler pulley or tensioner damaged itself and pretty much disappeared, belt shredded, loss of many functions, etc.
No warranty so paid out of pocket.

The problem I always run into is that our local dealer doesn't stock any parts for the 55 motors. With such a limited amount of 55 's on our island it really doesn't make sense for the dealer. Suck for me. Repair will probably take over a week.
