Daimler Chrysler build quality questionable....
at best its marginal. Having to purchase an aftermarket warrantee for a E55 so you don't get socked with a $6,000 or more repair bill is not acceptable to me.
These cars are ticking time bombs. Roll the dice and buy one.
Build quality is terrible for the yrs 2000-2007 and any mechanic who works on them will tell you staight out. Why? Merger with Chrysler..thats why.
I'll wait a few years when I can buy a W221 E63. Now that the marque has improved its terrible reputation....

This thread=fail. Seriously. Show me any high performance vehicle out of warranty that won't incur rather high maintenance bills. Would you buy an e60 M5 out of warranty? Would you buy a used RS6 with no warranty? As the saying goes, you have to pay to play!
Also, the new E-series is w212 not w221, and enjoy your wait.

Facts are facts. Benz has moved away from supercharging cars. They know it don't pay. They had to in order to keep their client base. The new hi perf cars are NA. And they have just as much hp as the forced induction cars.

Coming from the BMW Sector, Liability isn't as bad but it happens. My SMG Pump went, it was a $2500 work, but it ended up being a relay at $15. Regardless I was under warranty and didn't care. They are all bad, I don't think there is a perfect supercar out there. You just have to be patience and find one with warranty. Friend's M5's SMG Pump went today, he is under warranty:

LOL Oh yaa I almost forgot about them Toyota's with all their issues. Well maybe this proves that anycar can have issues. Only people who have never worked on a car and have no idea how it works would think a car will be 100% perfect.

Dont even start on Hyundai. I have a summer home down in Florida. I have 2 cars down there. One being a 06 Porsche and then a 2010 Hyundai Sonata as our beat around car. That Sonota has 15k on it and so far it has been back to the shop 5 times for things going wrong. 8 times if you count the regular stuff. One time on a trip to Alabama from Florida the car stalled on he highway. Nearly left us in the middle of nowhere. Started up again after 5 min. got back home took it to the dealer and they found nothing. They had it for 3 days. I had to pick it up at 6pm on a freaking Saturday.
Cant wait untill that lease is up. Our 06 Porsche with 5x the electical crap on it has only been in the shop one time and that is because it would not start. has about 25,000 miles on it now.
