What did you pay for your e55 when you got it
I am on the fence about getting a used e55 and am curious what people have been getting them for? From the looks of things a 2004 or 2005 clean one with under 50K miles goes for about 33K or so.
I have seen them as cheap as 24K but that is with 80K miles and looking a bit beat up. Can some of you tell me if you have got one in the last year what you paid for it and what kind of miles you had when purchased? Also what types of things typically go wrong as I have a 2000 clk430 and nothing major has gone wrong but lots of small things that had added up over time.

skratch did you get yours from a dealer I assume and what part of the price was the warranty?
azncaton211 did you get yours from a private seller?
I have been looking mostly on craigslist and most I find are at these little dealerships where I know they have been picked up at the auctions very cheap as the cars are not in very good shape. I rarely find one from private sellers.

Wow emoving that is insane.
I would jump at that if I found one here in the Washington DC area at that price. What does it mean star lowered? Is this one you found from your friend at MBUSA that was leased?

No buddy, it was one I sold to hot rod and he is buying a modded one so he gave me first dibs getting it back. There is a super clean one in the classifieds 03 with warranty for 21000. The guy is a real nice older guy selling it due to college bills for the kids. You need to jump on that one!

I just checked it out. It looks nice but over 70K miles is a bit high. I am very reluctant to buy cars outside my area and site unseen. I would like to find something within 250 miles from Arlington, VA as would like to check out in person before buying.

In that case you will probally never find a car. If you want a car rare as an E55 then you are going to have to look outside your area and trust people especially a member like him. I have talked to him and I trust the car is spotless. It is not like a Chevy where every lot has 10, There are only 12 E55s 2003-2005 on Ebay in the whole country. There are only 100 on Autotrader form 2004-2005 in the whole country. That is like 2 per state. Chances of finding one in your back yard= slim to none. You are gonna have to look outside the box!

I was lucky with mine,a kid bought it for 40k,paid 3600 for the extra warenty and then sold it to me 6 months later and we transfered the warenty to me.
He was a rich 18 year old and was getting a p-car instead.
My brother got the better deal, cpo right from mercedes for 30k and he paid an extra 2k for the cpo to be a 2 year.
I could of got mine a little cheaper, the kid didnt care at all,I honeslty think I could of bought it for like 28 but he was asking 37k for it.

Most of the stuff I see on cars.com are at these small independent dealerships which I try to stay away from. I know these are hard to find and it seems either you pay top dollar and get it from a used Benz dealership or get lucky and find a deal on a private party one. But it seems harder and harder to find from a private seller these days.

Emoving hit it on the head. I would of never considered buying a car site unseen, however, when looking for a rarer car such as an E55(in my case with Pano), I had to look outside the box. Its not like you are buying a civic or cavalier with one on every street corner for sale.
Do your due diligence, research the car, owner, records, and you will be fine.
Just have patience. It pays off. These cars will just keep coming.
Ive been looking at them for a year and a half . I was waiting until the 2010 calendar year along with the new E63 W212 to help with depreciating the earlier models.

Since your header says "what did you pay for your E55 WHEN"
Im old school, bought it brand new in 2004:
MSRP 88k
Paid 84k
Worth every penny; had the pano and the one year only solar panels too!!!
and please dont tell me that I could have waited 6 years and paid 60k less I dont buy cars for investment purposes.
