Fair trade?
Wondering what you guys think about this...My 2009 E550 loaded with 17,000 for a 2007 E63 with 58,000 loaded. Even trade. Im pretty sure there is no extended warranty on E63. Thoughts?
Here is the E63... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/07-ME...item2c5347702f

Ummm do you think your 550 is only worth $40,000..? That's the real question. They've 20K more miles on theirs than I have on mine...Only problems I've had are Airmatic and really small interior stuff...

I would agree with "emoving" the E63 is less prone to problems as compared to the E55. The possible issues that you would face with the E63, would be the airmatic suspension. Which can be quite expensive to replace, if not under warranty. The other expensive item are the front two piece brake rotors. Other then that, I really do see any other issues, not to say they don't exist. The only issue that, I have faced was a leaking rear air strut. My car is pretty reliable so far.

hmm this seems like a tough one but I'd probably go for the E63. Have you considered trying to trade your E550 plus some cash for a lower mileage E63? But I'm assuming you are looking for the white/pano so that might be hard to find

2005 E55
I had a similar dilemna a few years ago, when I decided to trade in my '04 545i/6 with 11k for an '01 M5 with 30k. I got a nominal amount of cash back in the trade, and my wife wasn't thrilled with the idea of getting a 3 year older car with higher miles. I never regretted it once, though - AMGs and M's are very special, and priced as such when new.

I just picked up an e63 yesterday. i don't like the tan interior on that to be honest, mines iridium with black interior and alcantara. but it has everything except pano. and i love it, and i got 31k miles on it, 50 might seem alot but its really not too bad, the guy probably drove freeway miles so he put them on very easily. freeway does not create a bad load on your car i.e. straining the gears from start stop. .02

How do you think the 63 will hold up to high miles? Will it be any different than the 550? How much are the brakes gonna be to replace? The 550 has air suspention too so that will not make any difference. We put alot of miles on our car and that why the 58,000 doesnt bother me. Our 550 will be there in another year anyway. To me the 58,000 on a 3 year old car means they were moslty highway miles. Bought our 550 in July 09 and already has 17,000.

I think that E63 will hold up great when it comes to high mileage, provided that proper maintenance has taken place. As far as the rotors, they are expensive, MB price $930 each for the two piece front, and $150 for the rears. Try www.parts.com their going for $630. The airmatic suspension is expensive to replace anyway, but struts can be bought from arnott industries.

Mercedes S55 AMG
You can still get an extended warranty from Mercedes up to 100k miles correct?
The 550 engine is nice, but the e63 is amazing. It's a much more powerful car, and more fun to drive in my opinion - not to mention the extra charm that it being an AMG brings. (Bodykit, while the 550 looks like any other e class for the most part)
If you enjoy driving, I'd personally do it. The E63 is an awesome car - I have an S55 AMG with 124k miles, and runs strong without issues. So 58k miles is really nothing if well maintained.
Let me ask you a question though: What's the reason you'd want the E63? What attracts you to it or what do you feel lacking in the e550?
