Tell me about it. I'll say this much. They were the best trips as far as pleasure from driving a car I've ever taken. The E55 is just such a great combo of comfort with mountains of torque and speed.

wow, ok im glad a lot of you DD them, and im seeing most of you have the E55 though. Not that big of a difference between the two. but im glad im not the only guy who drives 20 miles a day doing bullcrap, because i live in the barracks and "work" if you call it that on the same base, so i walk everywhere, haha.

but i still want a beater truck, to put a toolbox in the back and take it offroading once in a while, and it helps having a truck when you buy something big, i.e. toolbox, tv, air compressor.

I'd get a beater if I were you too, even if you don't drive it much, it helps to have on those "risky" trips, or conditions, or errands, etc.

I drive my E350 (beast ) rarely, I bought a DD to do my work trips in, and it racks up the mileage, I tend to have to find excuses to take out and enjoy the nice ride sometimes. I figure if you're keeping a car for the long haul, get a beater, if not, drive yours until you get sick of it. I like keeping my car super clean (I tend to clean it more than drive it ), so having DD allows me to keep my O.C.D hobby alive.

Kind of happy I didn't get an E55 I guess, as I'm be really drooling all day to take it out. As well, having a DD keeps you really appreciating your car sometimes, I'd probably be bored of my car if I didn't drive a lesser one most of the time.

I have a 2003 Tacoma Prerunner as my dd. A truck as a second vehicle is very handy, and it provides enough contrast to make time in the AMG that much sweeter.

I agree, no issues whatsoever after 120,000 miles, and they are good looking vehicles to boot IMO. Mine is a V6, Xtra cab, fully loaded, dark green with gray interior. They keep their resale value too. Well, who knows now after the Toyota recalls on the later gen Tacos...

DD is usually the car I lease currently a 2008 G35x. In 2 1/2 years I put 20k miles on the 55. I put 33k miles on my G35x that I leased 2 months after i bought my 55. Last 5 months I have driven the most since I became single for the first time in 5 years ! ahah

That's the smartest way IMO ^^. Especially if you like to have your "main" car and like to keep and pamper it. Get a Leased car as your DD. You'll always have something new (will become much newer than your pampered car), never have to worry about much on it, etc. If I didn't put 20+K Miles a year on my DD I would have done that too.

My E63 is the DD. It is only 10 miles to my office but sometimes I wish it was longer so my car can stretch its legs more often.

If it's raining I use my wife's car or I don't go to work and I call clients from home instead

A Prius because I'm green
My work days are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday. I try to commute with a friend and it's only 18 miles which I use my c class normally for. Sad thing is I use the E on the days off and rack up more miles then the commuter car. So I'm not sure if that would classify as a DD? It has almost the same amount of miles as the c class which I had for 2 years longer, but then again the road trips are in the E! What can I say 22,400 miles in the last year was well worth it, I bought her to drive not to put on display!

my 63 is my daily. I usually pick up my baby from my mom's ever other day. I don't see the point of babying the car. Like my wife said you buy a car to enjoy it. I kinda regretted not driving my m3 when i had it. 4 years and only racked up 14k miles on it. Now i need to drive all my cars as much as i can to get my money's worth.

These aren't museum pieces.

The other day I drove from Santa Barbara to Maricopa to Ojai and back to Santa Barbara. A smooth, fast, comfortable drive. It would have been a PITA in some appliance car.

I use mine as my DD. That's what I got it for. No point in having a comfortable and fast car sitting in a garage going nowhere. It's only real value is as a car. It's an AMG and it's going to depreciate into dust whether you drive it or not. Might as well use the damn thing.

My 55 is DD but it only takes 1 min to drive to my classes. I had my C for 3 years and only managed to put 18000 miles when I returned it to dealer.

I second that. After driving my suburban mostly, the E55 is like a rocket on wheels!!!

Daily driver for me too and racked up 13k miles in 5 months. Funny thing is work is 4 miles from home. I bought a fully loaded one (minus pano) because i figured since i spend so much time behind the wheel i might as well be comfy while doing it so no museum piece for me. Only down side to having this car is how much i find myself trying to come up with excuses to hit the road.
