Will E63 steering wheel fit on '05-'06 E55?
Hi Folks, I'm in the process of getting out of my M3 and trying to decide on whether to get an E55 or E63. This forum is definitely is an incredible wealth of information, thank you!!
I LOVE the E55, but would like to update the steering to an E63 steering wheel.
I searched the forum and from what I'm reading, there is an option to add a MP Design Steering wheel to '05-'06 E55's, which is plug and play and the original E55 airbag can be used.
I also see that there is the flat bottom/CLK 63 Black series steering wheel option, but noticed that there is some re-engineering of electronics to make the paddles work.
The question is, has someone successfully taken an E63 steering wheel and made it work on an '05-'06 E55 without significant modifications? Significant would mean re-machining bolt locations, etc. I'm ok with soldering and using a dremel to make the paddle shifter switches to work better.
Maybe I didn't search enough? If so, apologies in advance!
Thank you!

The E63 wheel is an improvement BUT the MP Sport wheel feels MUCH better than anything short of the CLK63 Black wheel.
FWIW, there is no difference in the amount of work and effort required to install the E63 and CLK63 Black wheel as the paddles and airbag function the same on both. The real trick is in the steering wheel buttons.
You can find plenty of posts on both paddle conversions for the MP or stock wheel (Brian S did a good one) and a great post on fitting a Black Series wheel into an '03 which is very challenging from Finney (SP) . The paddle wiring is the same between an '06 and the E63/CLK63 so you don't have to worry about this aspect.

Blacksport350- Thank you. I'd prefer to go with an E63 wheel since I'm sure there are used wheels available at Used Auto Parts and/or eBay.
Thank you for your help with this!
