replacing ecu help
so i need to replace my ecu in my 04 e55 and i was wondering if i could use a a used unit out of another e-class and have it programed or would it have to be out of an e55 and also, would an ecu work from an sl55?

When an ECU is "mated" to the car on initial setup, she is locked with that car permanently.
Unless something has changed over the past year, this is how it has been for years and years.
Can't swap ECU's, or "erase and reprogram one" like a hard drive.
Sorry for the bad news. Kinda blows... I know.
Gotta buy a new one and last I checked, they run around 2k. Could be more or less now. Been awhile since I bought my last one.
