ESP Malfunction

4 times in 2 days -- Just pops up and i can't rev past 1000rpms --- basically it will only idle.

Of course - a simple off and on fixes the problem --- but damn its getting annoying fast.

Problem? Solutions?

Other than those few times and the constant fear that when I am idleing it will die --- the car runs perfect -- i even made some quick 0-60-0 and even some high speed freeway pulls...

ECU is going into LIMP/safety mode, 20mph max. Does it say "ESP DEFECTIVE" or "MALFUNCTION"

Get faults codes read, it should be a cheap fix if its not happening all the time.

it says malfunction -- it only happens at idle -- but it is not obvious when it happens because the idle is smooth and never changes... either you see the prompt or you discover it when you are ready to accelerate.

When I got my new engine the LT's 180mm pulley and air box were all put on at the same time. Then the first time I started it and drove it it kept saying the same thing until I got my custom tune. So maybe its your tune?

well - i had my tune over a month ago and no problems -- I dont think it is the problem -- must be some kind of sensor being too picky -- I will try and get my check engine light checked out -- Is there any way to get the light turned off for good??? I know its something really lame

i just replaced both batteries -- I guess i still had the orginals 2006. I have not had an ESP malfunction since --- Could this be the culprit? I also, took out my TB and cleaned it around the same time.

My 06 (also alabaster white with pano roof, not that it matters) still has the original batteries... I have never had these malfunctions, although I did get a warning about convenience features being turned off about three times in a row a couple of months back every time I started it up... I long drive seems to have stopped that though... I think it came from a time where I had the all of the electronics running for a while without the engine running and then didn't start the car for over 5 days...

Could be. Other cars have been known to show bizarre electrical issues when the battery(ies) get weakish.

update -- Car towed to dealer -- looks like the alternator is bad. New batteries are not putting out 12volts -- After charging them over night the car still shows multiply warnings -- ESP malfucntion, visit workshop, conv. options turned off

Dyno mode showed UB volts @ 11.5 when car is on -- when I rev the volt goes down to 11.2 - 11.4 -- Before i start the car the battery shows 11.8 volts

Dealer said it seems like i need an alternator and maybe more 'voltage regulator'. Also, I took both batteries completly out and reinstalled them at the same time - like dealer suggested.
