Tire Question - Falken vs. Nitto - Which is better?
#26
I'm in the process of shopping for a new set of tires or just a set for the rears. I didn't really care for the invo's, I cut my personal best 60' with a set of Toyo T1 R's and am now looking for a change.
Is anyone having good fortune with the Hankooks at the drag strip?
I need something in time for Famosa....

Just put on a set of V12's this weekend/ Quieter, and much better ride. They were slippery for the first +/- 3 miles, until I wore off the top layer ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Very controllable tire, and with lots of torque, you want something that is consistent.

Last few sets I've gone through have been Nitto's and Falkens on the E55.
Prior NTO5's were BOSS in the dry but scary as all hell in the wet.
When I got my new HRE's I put the FK452's on and wasn't too thrilled about them in any aspect of my daily drive... didn't grip all the well in the dry and well my lady friend spun into a curb with them on the wet, but let's be honest it was more than likely driver error - and she will admit that to this day![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
Have Invo's now front and rear and to be honest I would sport them on any performance vehicle. Wet or dry these tires rule and they are very cost effective.
My best friend just put FK452's on A4 and he loves the ride (not much of a performance fiend like we all are)
When I need new tires come spring I am positive I will go back to PS2's. They are just the best all around tire IMHO.

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
Ran them all and the V12s for the money have no equal. Invo's and 452's are no comparison in the dry. 452's are also known to have significant failure issues if the pressure is a little low vs other tires. V12>T1R>Invo>452

i just got the Hankooks and they are really great. i had Assymetrics before and i loved those, but the V12s are just better.
the Hankooks are definitely a great deal: they're very quiet, nice and sticky, and they've got good traction from a full stop.

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
It would be nice to see a summary of country of origins....
Continental / General - Made in US (SC) though Truly a European brand
Michelin / Uniroyal - South Carolina, US as well - again, European
Are Kumho, Hankook, Falken, Nitto, and Sumitomo's all Asian tires ? (I.E. Japan, Korea, or China?)
What about Toyo, Pirelli & GoodYear ?
Thanks

Just my 0.02c worth - I have Dunlop SP Sport Maxx (on 19's) on an 04 E55
These have worked well so far and have offered a good balance between wet/dry performance - have outlasted the Michelins that were on it from new by a 50% so far.
I'm in NZ where we have a reasonable amount of both warm dry days during summer and colder wet weather so these have proved a reasonable choice so far.

When I search for new tires I go for the lowest possible treadlife number to put the power down.
I think the invos are 240 or 260 and the ps2s are 220.
edit looks like the new ps3 is 320 tread wear,no way will that stick better than a ps2s 220

AKA, A Goodyear 200 and a Michelin 200 will NOT wear out at the same time.
Just FYI my friend.
On a side note, I to look for a LOWER tread ware rating, like the Bridge stone 050 PP's 140
![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
But again, that does NOT guarantee satisfaction

You do know that tread ware ratings from two different manufactures is meaningless.
