I have an 06 E55... and I read here that the only way to check the oil level on my car is through computer on the dashboard b/c E55 did not come with a dip stick. But when I open my hood I see I red dip stick towards the back of the motor.

Is this to check the engine's oil? or for something else?

Also can someone please tell me how is it that I check the engine oil level through the computer on the dashboard? I have messed with it over and over and I don't see how to do it.

That dipstick is for the transmission fluid.

You have to set your dashboard display to the correct mode. Use the arrow keys on the left of the steering wheel and it should be one down from the digital speedometer display, with the ignition on, and the engine off.

Unless I'm grossly mistaken, the tube you see in the engine bay is where the dealer drains and refils the oil with a suction machine. I don't believe you will find a dipstick there. The trans tube is lower and very difficult to see/find.

if you want to see exactly the level, you have to go to the menu where there is the dyno-mode, VIN, etc. on the dhashboard

and go to the page where it shows the SW version
switch the key to 2nd ignition

last line will show engine type the one above it will show you your oil level. EX; 7.8L

and if you turn the engine on, you will see it changing while you are driving depending on your rpm, etc.


the out menu, where you change the arrow from temp, speed,etc tells you if the level is OK or you need to fill it with 1 Liter.
