The solar panel is to cool down the car while is parked. 05 and 06 they just discontinued.

O6E55, the solar panels I believe were 03 - 05, but not certain. I know that I didn't see many when searching on any year. I t does as Charley stated. It runs the inside fans when the car is in the sun to keep cabin ventilated. Its a cool feature..

Solar panels were an option for one year only: 2004. I had them and in Cali they were a great add!

It was the first thing I took off. I live at the beach in San Diego, and every weekend night, there are 60000 cops everywhere. When I had my M3 tinted, I got many tickets, and got tired of off/on/off/on

Instead, Im going to leave the back window 35% (or whatever it is) and do all sides a lighter tint. That way, I wont get tickets (hopefully) and it should look pretty clean. Added bonus, I want the UV protection for the leather. VIC, thanks for the info. I thought I had seen it on the '03's, but I will not question you. and upon looking, I see it under 2003 "Not Availible" Can I call you with questions? I just realized I could lock the doors by pushing the little button on the handle.

I have only seen one other E55 in San Diego recently.
I see other AMG's, just no E's.. I've got my eyes peeled, so if I see you, Ill stick out my tounge so you know its me.

Thanks everyone for all your input. I am looking forward to starting the mods! I just changed the Command to show AMG when powering on.. that is a cool hidden feature.

I am still reading the manual, and love all the features, even though I have not even set the FM presets yet.

WAIT- I saw a car with E63 and AMG on the trunk, 6.3AMG on the side. As he drove by, the exhaust looked strange, even though there were 4 tips. The car did not have the AMG bumpers either. The last part: It had 03-06 tail lights. Was this some ultra rare E63?

I see a couple a week, I work in Clairemont Mesa. (Most of the time I am driving my E36 M3)

I should be easy to find, I have a stock brilliant silver '04 and my plate is BENZE55.

We even have the same spoiler!
