trading C55 for E55
I am in the process of selling my C55 and locating a used E55 and I have some concerns - hopefully you experts can give me some advise!
Are there any serious issues that come up on the e55? My 05 c55 has been rock solid for many years and I drive it a lot. I'm used to reading all about c32 supercharger problems and I'm hoping that these problems don't happen on the e55. Perhaps it's just that many c32's are getting old now.
Are there any features on the E55 that I should definitely look for? Any I should avoid? I'd love to find a white or silver e55 if possible.
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated!

The E55 is actually a little more solid/reliable than the C32. However, and as is the case with many aging cars, there will always be a few things you should probably check out before buying: in this case, the IC pump is a good candidate. The stock IC pump does a terrible job and fails often, so many members have switched to the CM30 pump instead. Also, seems like many people have been replacing their supercharger clutch packs especially if they have relatively high mileage on the car. Also, check the condition of the Airmatic suspension and other suspension components as they can be costly as well.
Aside from those minor issues, there hasn't been too many problems reported

Spare tire
Make sure and check if the car has a spare tire. I know some of the 2004's don't (I found out the hard way). I think post 2004 most E55's do have a spare.

I don't think the C55 has air suspension.... I know my C32 didn't. The C55 is actually a very solid car and a good everyday beater.

No spare

I think most owners with the can of "fix-o-flat" and air compressor would've been ok with the additional 20lbs.

Believe me, it was. Apparently AMG tried to save weight on the early 2004's, so they put a can of "fix-o-flat" and an air compressor in the trunk instead of an actual spare. ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
