Manual Mode - Best RPM For Gear Change
After work, I went and test drove a E55 AMG. Love both the Comfort and Sport mode. I put the car in Manual mode and tried changing the gears my self. This is for comfortable driving situation. Which RPM would you guys change the gears in. I went for 2000-2200RPM up-shifts, and for my down shifts I let the car do it 98% of the time. Given I felt like it, I would down shift at around 1100-1200RPM. Do these sound right?

When in maual, I let it change up on its own full throtle +6000rpm
I down shift at any revs it will allow
The ECU does have some control and it wont allow up/down changes at certian revs.

If you want to shift go to M mode. if you want to cruise go to c mode if you want to drive it hard go to s and let the transmission alone it knows when to down shift at speed.

Seems good for a comfort drive. On my 63, I sometimes go to 3k just to hear the exhaust a bit more. In WOT situations (and in manual mode), I try to shift right around 7000 rpm, which causes the car to shift at around 7200 rpm (redline).
