Ran with a BMW 5.50 GT

So, i was driving down to Boca to see a movie with my girl and a strange looking BMW flew by. I catch up to him and we do a 50mph roll. Three honks and we fly...i didn't switch to S mode just left in in C but i looked back hoping to see him far behind but he was only like 2-3 cars behind LOL funny thing is that i thought it was a X6M but it was nighttime and i had no idea until i went home to search what "GT" models there were....so be careful of these 5.50's, i'm sure eventually a tune + basic boltons will have this TURBO car FLYYYING

if you started at 50mph it would take some time for the gap to open up.. since they have good torque and better gearing..

50mph races, you will need to be in 2nd gear for sure.. if you were in C mode.. its a very lazy shift.

2 to 3 cars without being in the correct power band is not bad..

The 550 GT is too heavy.. but a lighter 550i would be very nice.

as with recent BMW products.. marketing hp is does not equa to real world output..

They are probably putting close t 390 to 400 to the wheels.

390-400rwhp on the rear-drive version is 475-490bhp. BMW only claims it makes 400bhp. I doubt they could be that far understated, except for a few factory freaks here and there.

BMW have less drive train losst than MB's.. so if they make 390 RWHP. is really about 450 460hp.

back to the post.. GT is actually heavier than the 750 but has 8 spds.

Anyhow... if you are caught on the wrong gear and C mode.. its no wonder you could not pull away that quickly. You will need room to go above 110 to really see the difference.

Per the edmunds report on the car dynoed above, "We clocked the 750i at 5.2 seconds to 60 and 13.5 @ 103.7 through the quarter mile. Not bad for a 4,600-lb sedan."

ET and trap speed for that 750i 4.4TT seems low for a 450hp 4600lb sedan. For comparison, a 4500lb E55 wagon has been documented at 4.1 seconds to 60 and 12.5 @ 114 in the 1/4.
