Thinking of pulling the trigger on an 08 e63 CPO?

Thinking of pulling the trigger on an 08 e63 CPO?
I am looking at an 08 e63 with about 19,000 miles on it. It is a CPO car being sold by a MB dealer. The warranty is 4/48k but I understand that since it has been CPO'd the warranty is now 5/100k. I wanted to add 2 year additional years (giving the total warranty 7yr/100k miles) but the dealer wants $3700 to just add 2 years to the CPO program - miles remain the same, just the duration has two additional years....
That seems high to me and they claim that there is little margin in it for them.
What do you guys think?
*Just sold my 06 M5 - I am so relieved....

that sounds about right, actually sounds like they're giving you the warranty cheap.
when an AMG car breaks, it can be VERY expensive is the common wisdom.
I recently bought my 07 E63, CPO, then added 2 additional years to the warranty for about 4k.
how much are they asking for the car? what are you looking at out the door?

Thanks, I negotiated the purchase price down to 56,250. It has P02 options and has been CPO'd as I mentioned.
The only other cost would be $3700 for the 2 year extension on the warranty if I wanted it.
I like the car, its more of what I had in mind when I bought my M5 - they are very different cars.....

Take it.. 4K is cheap. on 12/15/2009, I paid 61.5 for an 08 E63 and 4K for the extra 2 years. Car has all the options but Dynamic Seats, and has 16K Miles. Sounds like you are getting a very fair deal.

RE: MB Warranty
Retail for the +2 year/100K was $3,995, cost was around $3,300 to the dealer last year, Summer 2009. I'd agree that $3700 is reasonable.
Try and negotiate a little more off the car itself to compensate for some of the warranty cost if you can, that is what I did.

thanks for the replies guys. Unfortunately, the dealer sold the car I was looking at while I was in the process of buying it myself... Not a good experience. So I am back to shopping, seems like there are a few 08's coming off lease that will be available soon.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Don't buy warranty from the dealer. They over price everything.
Got quoted yesterday by Mike Case on a Chrysler warranty for my 06 E55. Three more years for $2,400. That will take my car out to seven years of warranty and 100 K miles.
Hard to beat.

There should be very good deals right now on the low-mileage 2008 or 2009 models. Try to go for the 2009 if it is not too much extra so you can get the updated Navi, but if they don't negotiate it down enough, then just stick with 2008.
The warranty the dealer was offering you, as everyone has stated already, was indeed reasonably priced (even a little on the low side). And Although it is expensive, the factory warranty is always worth every penny. Do not buy a Benz without it
