Tensioner Pulley Failure?!?!

Tensioner Pulley Failure?!?!
So as I installed the 185mm Crank Pulley and realized swapping the accessory belt from the top of the car wouldn't happen anymore - I made a joke about how bad it would suck to be stranded because I couldn't change a belt.
Ha.
Annnnnnd of course today the car makes the worst screeching sound I've ever heard, sounded nothing like a bearing failure. I pulled into the first parking lot I could find, and opened the hood/killed the engine.
Sure enough the 6-rib belt was loose...but these things don't just come loose.
I started looking for the issue and couldn't see anything - then I realized the lower tensioner / idler pulley didn't have a pulley on it anymore.
Anyone experience this? I'll tear it down and take some photos tomorrow...it's been one of those weeks!

Weird. I ordered that one by accident though. Looks like I'll be replacing it sooner than I thought.

Or maybe ASP has one on the shelf that would work...

I also installed a 172 mm pulley and had to change the tensioner pulley.. The torque curves with a bad tensioner were up, down, up, down as you might expect with bad tension..
Works great now!

Great dealer www.mbboerne.com (Mercedes-Benz of Boerne, just northwest of San Antonio) had the complete assembly on the shelf- AND hooked me up a little back of Jobber..
Car is back together...some photos of the carnage below. Looks like some of a belt got caught up and bound the bearing, stripping the pulley from the hub....took her for a test drive and so glad to be back in the saddle.
Just in case anyone needs the part number for the 6 Rib Accessory Belt Tensioner Mechanism it is A 112 200 09 70 or A1122000970
I paid about $240.
Big thanks to theeddie for providing belt routing support...

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
I'm sure you could have found a matching pulley vs the entire thing.
A Gates 38019 replaces the top tensioner pulley though you would need a 2mm washer/spacer. Gates also make tensioner assemblies for around $140.00 or so. But at least your back on the road. Do not see too many of those failing but with cars getting up there in mileage...............

Kicking this thread up from the dead.
Same thing happened to me today. These tensioners have a history of failure and have been superseded by newer revisions a few times at least over the years.

Sales? I dont know how your brain functions so i don't know why you would post it. Like it has been confirmed, the pic you posted is NOT the accessory tensioner and not what he needs like you initially stated and reiterated.

I think you missed the point of this thread... Its not a shardul sales thread and nobody asked for the ASP pulley kit you sell. The thread was about the accessory tensioner. I understand your only concern is your pockets but don't try to false advertise.

So what if no one asked i am offering it for sale.
Chances are if someone reads the title off this thread they have one of the 3 idlers that have failed, so I am reselling the ASP idler kit to them.
