Lighting Question. No High beams.
I just bought a 2005 E55 that had the bulbs upgraded to Phillips. I noticed that when i push the light stalk forward to turn on the high beams it doesn't work. But if I pull back on the stalk it turns on the high beams.
Anyone have this problem? Does it have to do with the philips bulbs?

Does your car have Bi Xenon projectors? If i remember correctly, pushing the lever forward will open the bixenon flap and activate a halogen bulb in the second housing... Pulling it will just flash the bulbs in the housing without opening the bixenon flap...

As far as I know the E55's either come with BiXenon or Halogen projectors right? My car should have bixenon. I don't get highbeam when i push forward..pulling back works though.

Can you help verify a few things? Do you know for sure if your car as Bi xenon projectors? When pushing the stalk forward with the vehicle on, do you get any output from the inner halogen bulbs at all? When you pull the stalk, only the inner halogen lights turn on, correct?

lets get all of our directions straight, when you pull back on the Left stalk (that is toward you) it will flash your brights. if you push it forward ( thats toward the dash ) it should click and stay forward thats brights on constant. if you push inward on the stalk ( thats toward the steering column) it turns on the wipers and push harder then the sprayer for the windshield . simple if your lever doesnt click forward and stay then you may have a switch problem not a light problem if you can flash your brights. if you have a bulb error ,the dash will tell you. FYI,

I'm not sure if my car is bixenon or not. When I push the stalk forward, nothing happens. When I pull it back, I get output from the inner halogen bulb as well as the regular HID projector.
